Norwegian minor lines had very little in the way of signalling - usually just these handy posts for hanging out flags - an were controlled by telegraph, later telephone, block. I think they are only used when trains were booked to either cross, run through without stopping, or, in the case of the station at Kroderen, as calling-on signals when there is already something on the platform line.
A signal flag holder! :)
