The past in a foreign country

Two pictures of shunters at Voss. The Skd 220 was doing what came naturally, but the El 14 shuttling back and forth was a surprise. June 1991.  Recent pictures on the Voss Now website show the goods roads being torn up. My holiday snaps are now historical records, I think I need to lie down again.

Things change

Two photos of the Filipstad area of Oslo. The top one taken in September 1990 the bottom one in September 2012. That is twenty two years apart. I am going to have a lie down now.

Rails of the unexpected

Walking around Nottoden in the rain I came across this narrow gauge loco. That is all I know.

True colours

Who could possibly be interested in grubby tank wagons? Why would anyone take pictures of them?

In the eye of the beholder

These pictures will never feature in any beautiful Norway calendar. But they could be of interest to some.

Deserves another

Routes numbers 18 and 19 usually terminate at Ljabru. Due to engineering work a bus replacement replacement service was in place from Holtet.  Here the turning circle goes round the shed and retail outlet. A model would take up more space but have more operational interest.

One good turn

The turning circle at Kjelsas the outer end of tram route number 12. I had remembered it as green and a kiosk but cannot find any pictures to back that up. A useful prototype for the space starved tramway modeller.

To illustrate my last remark

To illustrate my remarks about having to grab photos, here are two pictures of vintage trams running in Oslo. I had seen them before but only at a distance, or on one occasion when changing film in the camera. It is not just fishermen who have stories about the one that got away. These were taken last year on the last of several sightings during the day.

Back on line

I stopped posting on this blog because the Norwegians do it so much better. They have the time, knowledge and ability to take photos in ideal conditions and can go back if necessary. I can only grab what I can on my all to brief holidays. That said, they are my own and with very few exceptions unique. So I am once again posting random photos from my collection. Make of them what you will.
